Gate City of the South – Atlanta

Atlanta is the populous city present in the United States. It is the capital of Georgia. The city is a major financial and cultural force and also fastest growing center in the U.S. It has its position in the national and international trade and commerce.

Geography:

Atlanta is situated on the north central part of the state, on the foothills of southern Appalachians. It has a total area of 132 sq miles. It is present on the south ridge of the Chattahoochee River, which is one of the natural features of the city.

Climate:

Atlanta consists of a humid and sub tropical climate with warm summers and mild winters. The coldest month is January and the warmest being July. It receives heavy rainfall and also snowfall occurs. Frequent ice storms can be expected. Both light weights and warm clothes should be taken along while touring in the Atlanta climate.

Being one of the largest cities in the U.S. it has a total population of 537,958 and the metropolitan area has nearly 5.5 million people.

The Atlanta city has been nicknamed as “The City Too Busy to Hate” because of its terrible traffic. It has been difficult for the public transport system to be more effective because of the traffic problem but hence Atlanta remains much with the car transport.

Atlanta operates both train and bus services all over the city but though this transportation is not much convenient always. Weekly, and weekend visitors passes are available with reasonable rates. BATMA operates the free shuttle services connecting many parts of the city. Taxis also run in all over the city premises.
